Wow, sorry to comment so late on this, I’m WAAAAY behind. Anyway, I’m a little disappointed in you, Tod, regarding “Blinded By the Light”. You know music and you don’t know the origin of that song? It was NOT originally a Manfred Mann song, it was a cover of a lesser-known Springsteen song. Seriously, look up the Springsteen version, it’s COMPLETELY DIFFERENT in terms of sound (none of the Moog synthesizer shit like in the version you’re familiar with). Now, concerning the infamous lyric in question, it’s significant that the original line is “Cuttin’ loose like a deuce”, which actually rhymes, and Springsteen does not pronounce it “douche”. I’m convinced he’s talking about a deuce coupe. I blame the “douche” confusion on Manfred Mann himself being South African and the other members being British.

Damn, I’m embarrassed! Had no idea that this was a
Springsteen cover. I don’t mind Bruce but I haven’t dug to deep into his back catalogue.
His version is much better than the Manfred Mann version and no references to
female hygiene products, which is a plus.
